I’ll take the road less travelled, it has a better view
Oh look, there’s you
And this is real
Since it is true, how do I feel so right and so alive?
I’m not worried on my appetite
Well call me, would you?
Won’t say “how could you”
And I’m all: how could I ask you to be crazy for me too?
When this worry is my biggest adversary
Hope my load’s not hard to carry
But we’re strong
Keep us from all wrong
It’s the weighing of the song
And saying I belong right here, or with my arms around you tight
Some shit keeps me up at night, but here we are
We have come real far
Even if all fails, well you raised the bar
He kept his dreams by his side
He knew where he was going, his mind was flowing
My mind is a library
Wrote a couple books then went outside so I could learn to read
I’ll be the trash outside your house
I’ll be a speck on the edge of your blouse
I’ll be the dirt beneath your feet
Or I’ll be an ornament on your tree
What’s in the box? It has a lock
I had a key… It was in the box…
What is a friend if they’re pretend?
It’s not too late to start again
Well, I couldn’t see well enough to let myself not take this too seriously
It came about with less of a shout,
More of a “why I live without”
But if they’re dumb, I bite my thumb
I’ll find a way that I can say:
“Hey. That’s far from okay”
I’ll be the trash outside your house
I’ll be a speck on the edge of your blouse
I’ll be the dirt beneath your feet
Or I’ll be an ornament on your tree
Could be your friend, that’s it, no more
But I’ve always hoped more’s in store
While I sit here evading your door
